What is the proper attire for family day; the day before basic training graduation?

Q. My son graduates from bct next month. I have found the answer for proper attire at the graduation itself, but what about family day? The day before graduation, I believe spent on base with your soldier.

A. Think church picnic.

Yes, I would also consider the weather and comfort, but also keep inmind that this is professional. If the OTHER PEOPLE at the picnic would feel comfortable with you wearing that outfit to a church picnic - and it suits the weather - you'll be fine.

And you can just watch the people that show up in tiny micro-dresses and short-shorts, and the dirty looks they get... and the other people in long sleeves and jeans that are dying from the heat... and laugh.

What's a quick, easy, romantic dinner I can make for my boyfriend tonight?
Q. If anyone has any suggestions for something healthy, that would be ideal. I am planning a nice night for our 1 year. I usually make something like chicken and pasta, but I'm looking for something different.

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

A. Have a carpet picnic, spread a blanket on the floor, have some fresh fruit, finger sandwiches, stuff you would have at a picnic and lots of candles....

What are some tips to spice up your relationship after youve been together for a few months?
Q. ..i dont think i need to add much more detail here haha
ive been in a relatioship for a few months and i was wondering what are some of your guys' tips- to make it more interesting or something new, etc.
xo

A. plan a picnic or make a nice candle lit dinner and if you are intimate make it fun go to the adult store but some massage oil and give him a nice massage and maybe but something cute to wear.

What is the difference between 4 star and 5 star resorts?

Q. Im a 21 yr old male travelling to varadero Cuba in june. is there a significant difference between a four star resort and a five start resort? Im trying to save cash so would i be missing out if i go with a 4 star resort?

A. This is straight from the Orbitz website:

Here's an idea about what to expect with each star rating:

* 5 Stars - Luxury hotels: Treat yourself well with first-class services and accommodations. The hotel decor usually creates an elegant ambiance from the lobby to each individual guest room or suite. Hotel restaurants are often renown for their famous chefs and delectable dishes and are usually located in the most desirable locations in major cities and resort areas. Other amenities include: valet parking, concierge service, room service, well-equipped fitness centers and state-of-the-art business centers.

* 4 Stars - Deluxe/upscale hotels: Find comfort, class and quality that you can count on. These hotels will usually be in a prime location and other amenities may include: proximity to desirable shopping areas and restaurants, valet parking, concierge service, room service, well-equipped fitness centers and state-of-the-art business centers. These properties may be newly constructed or recently renovated, and offer tasteful decor in each room or suite.

* 3 Stars - Mid-scale hotels: Discover convenience and comfort in the city or in the suburbs where many of these properties are located. Amenities that may be available include: swimming pools, fitness centers, room service, concierge service and parking. Often you'll find these properties located near highways and office complexes. Rooms and lobbies are nicely furnished, and restaurants are usually located at the property.

* 2 Stars - Value Properties: Get back to basics with these comfortable properties that offer affordable prices. These properties are often located near office parks, airports, and shopping and retail areas. Rooms are comfortably decorated but not overly elegant. Usually, these properties do not have restaurants or room service, but offer free parking and sometimes, swimming pools. Transportation is occasionally offered to nearby airports.

* 1 Star - Economy Hotels & Motels: Stay in simple accommodations that typically are located near major highways and transportation. Amenities include free parking, local calls and cable television. Restaurants are often located nearby, and room service is usually not available. Some economy hotels and motels have swimming pools located on the property.

How to make your hair soft and silky for dark brown hair?
Q. Hi, i have long dark brown hair. Its somewhat damaged on the tips and i wash my hair everyday but, with different shampoos everyday. Like one day tressume, one day loreal, and one day herbal essence. My hair is long (about 4inches below shoulders) dry, and naturally straight with a few curls on the ends of my hair. What am i doing wrong? What should i do? Any advice?

A. Soft, silky, shiny & healthy hair comes from: Good genes. Good hair care. Good foods from Mother Nature not made my man like John Frieda or supplements found @ GNC. Those products can only do more harm than good.. You'll get 12 responses, suggesting 12 different brands. An example from YA! who uses hair shine products: "Too much shine spray!! Now hair looks greasy! Blechâ¦"

I've used the same cheapest shampoo Garnier for Normal Hair for over 15 years (no conditioner - we have soft water). When traveling, I briefly rinse with bottled water. Celebrities rinsed theirs with Perrier water. ~ InStyle mag. You can also use plastic curlers to set your hair, to get them silkier, softer, smoother. Blow dry. Take them out. Brush to style or tousle with your fingers. Retro styles are back!

Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair product just absorbs on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge.

The hair industry is a trillion dollar business, they sell products that cleans & condition the hair. They also sell products that damage and causes hair loss. They also DO NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'. Mechanical, chemical, or thermal styling. Hair straighteners and relaxers top the hair products pose the greatest risks. Hair relaxers, related products marketed heavily to African-American women, are dangerous because they may contain powerful chemicals such as lye, a toxic substance also used in drain cleaners.

I've been using whatever shampoos they have in all the luxury hotels (Ireland) and it did the same as if I washed my hair with over the counter brand. The only difference? I briefly rinse my hair with bottled water, to help condition the hair because their water is not the same as Oregon water, but they taste the same. My hair still feel soft, silky, shiny & smooth. So salon, or spa products or over the counter, my hair doesn't change in texture.

Hair products are not made of glue to fix, repair, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged.

Itâs the dirty little secret shampoo companies donât want you to knowâwhen you wash your hair with one of those nutrient-rich shampoos, most of the nutrients and active ingredients in the product donât actually end up in your hair, they wind up down the drain⦠along with all the money you spent on the shampoo.
Why does this happen? Because the shampoo molecules they contain are too large to penetrate the cells of hair and more importantly the tiny hair follicles where our hair actually grows. They sit atop the follicle until we wash them away.
Why is that a problem?
Our hair works basically the same wayâif you want to treat your hair right, you need to treat the roots.

HOW you use to style your hair or what styling tools that damage the hair, and what chemicals you're adding to the hair, not the shampoo.

Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair"http://www.foodforhealthyhair.com/ http://sg.news.yahoo.com/food-for-healthy-hair.html - or 10 Best Foods for Your Hair.
http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/07/03/10-best-foods-for-your-hair/
NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. ake the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling.

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy shiny, soft, silky, smooth hair.

Myth: Rinsing with ice-cold water after a shampoo will give you shinier hair.
Truth: It might wake you up, but a dousing of cold water will have no effect on the shininess of your tresses.

How do I get big discounts for hotels in Los Angeles area?
Q. We are planning a trip to Los Angeles. We want to stay at Santa Monica, but the hotel prices are way too pricey. We may stay in Los Angeles, not sure yet. Depends on hotels. I hear all of the time that there are ways to get big discounts, but I don't know how to do that.

A. Triple A is usually the common discount if you're a member.

As far as big discounts, if you're a big traveler you might want to look into becoming a Leisure Travel Consultant. You get great LTC rates on hotels, resorts, cruises, rental cars, etc. As well as make commissions from any sales you make.

If you don't like the idea of being an LTC, you could check out becoming a Dreamtrips member. Hands down they offer the best deals on luxury hotels, resorts, and trips i've ever seen. They're pretty unbelievable. I was sold as soon as I looked at what they had to offer and they keep adding more. With Dreamtrips the deals are for you and a guest/spouse and often includes the kids too. Definitely worth looking into.

Hope this helped.

What are the smoke lines in atom bomb pictures and videos?

Q. In some videos and pictures of atomic bomb explosions there are these smokes trails ether vertically or horizontally that appear right after the flash. I was just curious asas to they are? Its probably a simple explanation, it just looks odd to me.

A. They are not smoke trails, usually. When the bomb (any bomb) explodes, the first things out are a shock wave. This travells very fast, and the pictures look like they are smoke trails, but they are just distortions in the air.

My fiance and I are considering eloping to Yosemite. Any recommendations on what company we should work with?

Q. We want a very small ceremony, either just us or some close family and friends. We have begun researching websites for Yosemite elopements, but can't tell if they are legitimate or have good reviews. If you have any advice or experience to share, we would greatly appreciate it!

A. My husband and I were married in Yosemite Valley at the little church in the valley. It is a small old church with the steeple on the right of the main road going through Yosemite meadows. I don't know if you could fit more than 20 people there but it's very quaint and price is very reasonable. We contacted the church pastor and had our flowers done in Mariposa the day before the wedding. We found a local photographer and he actually ended up being our best man LOL. We stayed at a local Bed and Breakfast but it's no longer there now. However The Ahawhnee Hotel is an awesome place to stay and you can have a wedding and reception there if you have the money to do so. You'll need to make reservations at http://www.yosemitepark.com/Accommodations_TheAhwahnee.aspx I'd also strongly suggest you take a look at a Bed and Breakfast over on the back side of Yosemite in a small town called Oakhurst. It's called Chateau du Sureau and is part of the Relais & Chateaux luxury hotel and gourmet restaurant chain... the place is amazing, they do a lot of weddings and house the wedding party...yes it's pricy but hey you only have one big wedding day right;-) Here's their website http://www.chateaudusureau.com My hubby and I have stayed there several times and it's like a fairy tale. Each room is different, the staff line up and meet you out front like you actually live there, you'll feel like a princess. They have a private villa as well as the main house, 5 star all the way. The breakfast is amazing. They have the neatest chess board out back that is life size, lots of fun. Erna the owner also owns the restaurant next door and the food is amazing. So those are the 2 places I highly recommend, though there are other places in Mariposa, Oakhurst that are very close to Yosemite. Here is a good website with several you can compare, sometimes they do weddings too. http://www.yosemitebnbs.com/comparebnbs/index.html http://www.houndstoothinn.com Congrats, have a wonderful marriage. We're going on 26 years and lovin every minute together.

What hotel do celebrities stay while going to perform at the Oracle?
Q. Gaga will be in town next week and I'm curious if anyone knows what hotel her crew might stay in? I saw a few convient hotels along the Oakland airport. Any ideas or help?

A. There are absolutely NO luxury hotels nearby Oracle Center in Oakland. I am guessing because she is quite popular, she will stay somewhere in downtown San Fran, rather than Oakland... I was staying at The Fairmont about 2 years ago and saw Katie Holmes, if that would help you out.

I can't guarantee, but some of the best luxury hotels in San Francisco are;

-Four Seasons
-The Fairmont
-St. Regis
-Taj Compton
-Mandarin Oriental

What would you recommend to serve at a baby shower?

Q. I'm throwing a baby shower for my best friend in late March, I'm throwing it in a park and there will be no more than 30 people there. What do you think?

A. A picnic is a great idea!! Depending on the crowd you are pleasing you could go different directions, if it's going to be a fluffy, really girly kind of baby shower then some great little sandwiches de-crusted with cream cheese and cucumber, or prosciutto with arugula and brie, would be great. Also you could have a little dessert bar at the end where you bring picnic friendly desserts. Her cake, for example, could maybe be a cupcake cake so you don't have to worry about sharp knives and everything, it's also easy to assemble while you are at the park and you can make it as small or as large as you want, it's even easy to take home because it can be divided up if someone want to take some home with them. For the rest of the dessert bar you can get one of those little chocolate dessert fountains, they have some I think that are battery powered now and they are only like 30 bucks but totally worth it. Then you can set out marshmallows and dried fruits, strawberries, cookies and any other snacks to dip in. As for side dishes, a nice cole slaw with a vinaigrette instead of the traditional mayo is always nice and keeps better for a picnic. Also a nice pesto pasta salad is always a hit. I make mine with a bunch of basil olive oil parmesan cheese and toasted pine nuts and garlic whip it all together in a blender and pour the olive oil in until you reach your desired consistency then boil some pasta noodles anything you have, chop some dry salami, not the kind that's already pre-sliced, add some chunks of cheddar cheese and some salt and pepper toss to coat and viola, be sure to keep it cold though (one of my moms inventions). The veggie and the fruit tray is a great idea and I always make this dip that is absolutely to die for with my fruit platters, it's 1 package regular Philadelphia cream cheese (the little block package) and one jar of Jet puffed Marshmallow whip, be sure to have the cream cheese at room temperature when you mix it but pop it in the fridge after you make it to get it cold for the picnic (Helpful Hint: If you know the sex of the baby you can dye the dip as well as the frosting for the cake accordingly, if not just leave it white) . As for drinks since the Mommy to be can't drink I would recommend making a spritzer sort of thing with some of her favorite juices and some ginger age or sprite, if you want to go a little lighter on sugar you can use sparkling water instead of soda, also you can use frozen fruit to keep everyones drinks cold instead of ice cubes, they're edible healthy and stay cold almost as long ( this is what I do and find it to be much better). Good Luck, hope this helped!!! Happy Feasting!!

When was the last time you packed a picnic basket and had lunch/dinner outside?

A. A proper picnic? Not for years!! I often eat lunch outside when the weather is fine.
